I thought I would show you around the rest of the living room. When we moved into this house I had no idea what I would do with a formal living room. Come to find out my in-laws had a beautiful piano in storage just begging to be showcased. It needed a LOT of tuning and it took some work to get it here but it is wonderful to have in our home. I grew up playing the piano and I’d like for our kids to be exposed to music as well.
Living Room Tour (Part Two)
on May 26, 2010
I made the mini coffee table in the middle from a side table (<--future post).
The chair in the corner is second -hand but it works for the space. I’d really like to add nailhead trim to it one of these days. The lamp was a Home Goods find.
This pic makes it look dark but it is not a dark room @ all. I’m taking this pic from the connected dining room. (Bowling alley, remember?) The panels are Ballard Designs. I took advantage of a 20% coupon. Traditionally silks would not be included in a cottage-style room but I like mixing the more formal elements into the more formal areas of the house. I still feel like it is a casual look overall.
The Parsons chairs are from my dining room set.
I slipcovered them (<--future post). The table behind it was a vintage find.
The chest was my grandmother’s and I use it to store scrapbooks and special items.
Hope you are enjoying the tour! Next stop — the dining room.
