Two Story Cottage

Living Room Tour (Part Two)

I thought I would show you around the rest of the living room.  When we moved into this house I had no idea what I would do with a formal living room.  Come to find out my in-laws had a beautiful piano in storage just begging to be showcased.  It needed a LOT of tuning and it took some work to get it here but it is wonderful to have in our home.  I grew up playing the piano and I’d like for our kids to be exposed to music as well.

I made the mini coffee table in the middle from a side table (<--future post).
The chair in the corner is second -hand but it works for the space.  I’d really like to add nailhead trim to it one of these days. The lamp was a Home Goods find.

This pic makes it look dark but it is not a dark room @ all.  I’m taking this pic from the connected dining room.  (Bowling alley, remember?)  The panels are Ballard Designs.  I took advantage of a 20% coupon.  Traditionally silks would not be included in a cottage-style room but I like mixing the more formal elements into the more formal areas of the house.  I still feel like it is a casual look overall.
The Parsons chairs are from my dining room set.
I slipcovered them (<--future post).  The table behind it was a vintage find.

The chest was my grandmother’s and I use it to store scrapbooks and special items.
Hope you are enjoying the tour!  Next stop — the dining room.

  10. Never leave any spills on the floor for an extended period of time. Accidents happen and spills are inevitable, but to keep your floor and your home beautiful, always clean up spills immediately after they occur.

  11. Try to transport your ideas to the designer and make him work for it.

Non-verbal and verbal communications are two major types of communications.
Web design rhythm, also known as repetition, brings the much needed internal consistency into your web site

  12. Great items from you, man. I’ve bear in mind your stuff previous
to and you’re just extremely excellent. I actually like what you’ve
received here, really like what you’re saying
and the way through which you say it. You make it enjoyable and you still take care of to keep it smart.
I can’t wait to read much more from you. That is really a wonderful web site.
