Finally, as promised, a tour of my remodeled kitchen. When we moved into our house I knew I was going to redo it. Originally I wanted to paint the cabinets but they were not wood so that was not a good option. (I tried on one cabinet and it was a disaster). We were already planning on replacing the countertops, island, dishwasher, and cooktop so it seemed like gutting everything was our best bet. We decided to install white stock cabinets with shaker style doors. However, to give them a custom look we had them stacked. The variation in height of the cabinets definitely gave them a more “custom” feel. We also had black granite countertops installed.
I had a whole file of kitchen pictures that I had saved over the years and I combined elements from many different sources to come up with the overall design. I knew I wanted a black island with a butcher block top. I decided to include a bookcase for storage.

LOVE it. Erin, your home is GORGEOUS!!
It turned out beautiful. So much brighter and cheerier! Well done!

Don’t you just sigh every time you walk in. I want the black countertops, yours make me for sure about it. I live the different island top too.

Swoon… I’m loving the changes! The picture with those three pots above your stove you can really grasp the entire room right there. Sooo pretty! There is simply nothing to not like about white cabs.

I just showed my husband this picture and said, “This is the kitchen I WANT oh and also this kind of house!” He said, “Oh, I see!”
I don’t know what that means exactly.

Wonderful kitchen remodel, it is so bright! I am in L O V E with all shades of white, you can’t go wrong! Great job!
Hi Erin! Found your blog through Southern Hospitality! I live in your town too. Well, my address is Waxhaw, but I actually live in a neighboring town. I love your kitchen remodel! It looks fantastic. I so want a white kitchen! We have our house up for sale because it’s 3 floors and seems too big for us now because my girls are never here (& it’s really not my style). I have been looking for a cute house with a cottage look. HA!! It is darn near impossible! Found one in Mecklenburg county, but don’t want to live there. I also found one in Indian Trail, but I really want to stay on this side of town. I think we aren’t going to re-list our house in January & will probably start on re-decorating our house with lighter colors like yours. My husband said we could paint our cherry cabinets in the spring if we are still here! Can’t wait. I love your blog!
There you are again! So glad you brought your beautiful white kitchen to the white party!
I so agree with you. Stacked cabs are the BEST look! Yours are fab.

hey girl! well, as you may know because I’ve been rambling about it since I met you in Nashville, I am ready to take the plunge on painting those cabinets. I won’t lie. I’m getting super nervous. Did you paint and add in different places, or redo the entire thing via contractor? just curious if you could give me any pointers. painting my fridge today! ahhhhhhh! wish me luck!
I know this is a late post, but I just found your site. I was wondering what the height of your counters are. I’m intrigued by the stools along the peninsula & it seems to be the same height as the counters. How is it possible to put stools there?
my favorite is #3: “I’m up for anything” I guest
which is real, i also don’t think on that assertion …LOL…his sample was nice,I can’t imagine myself possessing scuba diving along with fantastic white sharks.
