Two Story Cottage

My Guest Room

I am not quite ready to reveal my accessorized mantel.  The mantel is complete but I’m still fine-tuning the decor.  I put things up and then at night when sitting on the couch I get antsy and rearrange.  I think I’m almost there.  I was inspired instead to continue with the house tour.  The last stop was the guest bathroom which is followed by – you guessed it – the guest room itself. I had been thinking that I needed to resume the tour but I was inspired by Layla & Kevin at TLC to do so.  You all know that I’m a Letterhead so naturally I wanted to participate in their guest room linky party!

WARNING!  The guest room in not actually done.  What? What is that you say?  Oh, you’re right nothing is ever really done but I mean the guest room is a halfway there kind of room. Honestly our guest room is a bit on the girly side.  That being said I will point out that most of our guests are female. Can you tell I’ve defended the room before?  Mr. C thinks it could use a little more masculinity.  Hmph.

Lovin’ the reflection of my chandelier in the mirror

Comfiest bed ever!

Home Goods clearance find – stores all of our wireless internet equipment.  The TV isn’t overly attractive but I felt my guests should have the option of a little TV in bed.  Too bad it doesn’t have cable.

Broken leg – reasoning for clearance $ at HomeGoods

The mirror I’ve had for years – I painted it to go with the duvet.

Treated my little chandy to a bow & some crystals

Yes, those are the seven dwarfs.  They add a little whimsy to the room.

On the wall as you come into the room

TO DO:
wainscoting – possibly grey
something above the HomeGoods cabinet
something below the seven dwarfs shelf
lamp shade is a little big – it was a leftover
hardwoods ( a girl can dream, right?)
cute clock for nighstand
Did you notice the ruffle pillow in the top pic?  Yep that is cloth bag my the shower curtain came in.  I used it to make a pillow.
Beneath the seven dwarfs shelf is a Jenny Lind changing table.  Not pictured but it is white.  It is nice to have a place to change diapers downstairs.  I used to have a chest of drawers in that spot but it was moved to Lacey’s room when her changing table moved to Reid’s room.  Like musical chairs.  Only with furniture.  That is how we do things around here.
Hope you enjoyed the tour!  The guest room is a space that I really feel can evolve over time.  I can pick up special little pieces here and there.  I would love a chair for the room as well.  As you know I love art and this room could certainly use more.  The list goes on…

*I edited the pictures in this post.  They were too dark so I took new ones during the daytime! Genius.
