Two Story Cottage

Winter Mantel

Let is snow, let it snow, let it snow!  We have several inches of snow on the ground today.  Preschool was closed.  Mr. C’s office was CLOSED (maybe the first time ever) so we had a cinnamon roll, hot chocolate, pajamas sort of day.  This afternoon I was inspired to put a little “winter” into the living room mantel.  I had fun with it!

  •  I moved my formerly green vases from the dining room china cabinet.  (I made them sweaters with an old pair of socks).
  • The beaded icicle garland seemed to fit right in.

  • BRR!  It is cold outside!

  • A snowflake ornament adds a touch of whimsy to my too short candlesticks.
  • The gold poinsettias were leftover from Christmas and I decided it was okay to use them for a winter display.

Hopefully you are staying warm!

  2. Your mantle looks nice. I am in Columbia and not only were schools and other things closed today (Walmart closed at 5:30 WOW) but school has already been closed for tomorrow. Stay warm and enjoy the snow.

  3. Clever!! And a great way to spend a snow day– I’ll be doing my mantle today, too, as we’re snowed in as well. Enjoy!

  10. Your mantel looks great, and it’s just right for the weather we’ve been having. It’s been more “brrr” weather in NC this winter than it’s been since we moved here 9 years ago! But your home looks nice and snug and warm. :)

  11. I really like your mantel! Looks great! I finally got around to doing mine last week. At least I didn’t wait until March like I usually do :) I love your blog! Can’t wait to read more.
