Dear Friends,
Fall is in the air. A sip of a pumpkin spice latte, the sounds of Friday night football, and the smells of apple bread baking in the oven. The lady at the Farmer’s Market’s oven but pretend I didn’t tell you that. Blogs are all about perception, right? I’d love to paint you a picture of leaves changing color and cool temperatures but around here we have had balmy weather mixed with lots of rain. More spring than fall. So we get autumn where we can. In our coffee, our food, and our decor.
Since our move, I have been excited about decorating our new mantel! The rest of the room may look like a yard sale but the mantel will say fall is here.
The painting was in the foyer at our old house. It probably won’t stay on the mantel but it works for fall! The photograph I got years ago at an art fair.
The block letters were part of a set that I got from Target last year along with the plaid pumpkin. The basket-like pumpkin is from HomeGoods. The candleholder I got forever ago at an antiques shop in downtown Waxhaw. The candle itself is several years old.
I had to scour the neighborhood for that pitiful pile of leaves. I’m guessing this won’t last long because the kids will want the wagon back but it was fun. Even if it is a little country-fried.
I am attending the mantel party over at Ms. Layla’s house tomorrow. Join me, won’t you?

I’ll be there! I love your stacked stone fireplace — so organic and the perfect texture to highlight the season.
Nicely done, Erin!

Your mantel looks great, Erin! But really, it’s your entire fireplace I really love. That raised hearth. . . mmm!! You’re right: it’s an additional decorating opportunity, it’s additional seating, too!
Oh that mantel is beautiful!
