Two Story Cottage

Formerly Naked Staircase

Dear Friends,
I am no longer living with a naked set of steps. I loved the beauty of the hardwood steps but in the end they just weren’t family friendly.   I struggled finding a runner.  The “as is” runners that you find at Dash & Albert or online are great but in our case not quite wide enough and it would have taken two and a half.  If you multiply that out you can easily end up with a  $500- $1000 investment and nobody to install.

I visited a handful of carpet stores but wasn’t blown away by the choices.  At the suggestion of several people, I finally went to the Stark outlet in Charlotte.  WOW!  Talk about beautiful rugs. I had several good choices to pick from that gave the casual but elegant vibe I was looking for.   By the way, they have rugs there that cost more than my car but boy are they beautiful.   Something for every budget.

Drew at Stark was very helpful and the installation guys were top notch.  The whole process was a breeze which was a plus because finding a runner was not!

 AFTER

You can’t see the detail in the runner as well in the photo but in person the blue and green stand out just enough.  Like a bridesmaid, you don’t want to overshadow the focal point which in this case would be the steps.  No Pippa Middletons here!

I’m enjoying the warmth that the carpet brings to the foyer but even more than that, the stress relief.

  4. Looks great! Love the colors! Wish had those hardwoods!

  5. I’m in a similar place with my stairs. Is that carpet that they bound on the edges? Also, what is the width?
