Dear Friends,
Well, I just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to set some goals for the new year. Let’s not call them resolutions, okay? That is a little too stringent for my current state of mind. I have accepted the fact over the last year that with a {nearly} two year old and a four year old we are living in chaos a lot of the time. Sometimes, we are even in survival mode, like when Mr. C is out of town or has his busy season. A lot of times we straddle the line between happy chaos and scary chaos and I’d like to keep us quarantined in the former. That being said…
Goals for 2012
*Start the day off right by making the bed. We got out of this habit and I know it such a small thing. I can do it – if Lacey has to do it, I probably should too.
*Plan for my blog. That doesn’t mean planning posts way ahead of time – but I do feel like I operate better with a general plan for things. I am going to try to take a few minutes to plan on Sundays and see how that goes.
*Have more patience, particularly with child #1. She is an endless fountain of questions and is as slow as molasses which can be a combustible combination when Mommy is tired.
*Finish what I start. I’ve been talking about this a lot since moving to the new house. I’m not going to lie, I have about 6 different projects going right now but I’m focused on not abandoning and moving on when 80% done which has been my m.o. in the past.
*Have a place for everything and put everything in its’ place. We have worked a lot over the break on organization here at the Two Story Cottage so I really want to keep things where they belong. Tough but doable!
*Try not to forget my partner, Mr. C, in the midst of child-rearing, blogging, home-making, church activities, volunteering, and girl time.
*Get out of my comfort zone in blogland. Oh, I’m a girl who loves to be cozy & comfy in my own little world. I have to push myself to get out there a little more.

Love that index card! I’m afraid I get out of my comfort zone a LOT–but it’s not usually because I choose to step out of my comfort zone. It’s because I get pushed! Oh, well, maybe that’s better than never getting out. I’d like to spend a little more time where the magic happens, though!
I like your goals. Challenging but doable if you set your mind to it. Good for you!
Such a inspiring post! Everything on your list is doable – it’s just finding the time/ enthusiasm and motivation!! I know that problem well. I’ll be rooting for you!!!! xx
Lots of similarities on my list! Two of my top goals: more patience with my kiddos (remembering they are only 3 & 5, not adults who can reason like me and move at my pace)and planning more for my blog. It’s felt too haphazard of late. I can relate to so much of what you shared, Erin. Thanks for posting them and forcing me to reflect.
Happy New Year!
What a great post. Yes goals -v- resolutions. I like that too. Thank you so much for sharing. I hope twenty twelve is everything you wish for and more. I will follow on my way out so I can revisit. I hope you can find the time to come visit me and do the same. I look forward to engaging throughout the year. Cheers SpecialK XoXo
