Two Story Cottage

Rearranging {Family room console}

Dear Friends,
     Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday!  This week has been a shock to the system.  Is anyone else feeling that way?  My mind isn’t back to super-efficient Mom mode yet but I’m getting there.  How many weeks until summer?

January is definitely the time for change.  After Christmas, stuff is not in its’ usual place and after arranging things differently for six weeks or so it allows the opportunity to see things in a new way.   Case in point – our toy storage in the family room.  Here is a “before.”

Old House (Lacking style except for the painting)
New House “Fall” (just okay)
And Now – Much better

These photos are seriously over-edited but with the sun coming in I couldn’t get the details of the stuff on display.  Without the sun it was WAY too dark.  A work in progress this is for sure!
I knew without a doubt that I needed more height.  A branch from my backyard coupled with a couple of stems from Pier 1 gave me that. I added snowflake ornaments because I’m a little bit cheesy that way.  The lamp is a HomeGoods find.  I spotted it and grabbed it like a woman on a mission.  The last time I liked a lamp at HomeGoods some rude, mean lady took it right out from under me.  I learned my lesson!  I’d love to go darker with the baskets but that is low on priority list at the moment.
Have you been doing any after Christmas re-styling?  Do tell.

  1. Like you say Erin, MUCH better! Adding that little bit of height just gives it the edge. LOVE the green vase and the lamp and that clock!!!! Happy happy!!!! xxx

  2. I hear you, Erin. I am still in slow mode after three weeks of revolving family visits. Tree is finally down and there’s a huge void in my space. Hopefully I can get it looking as pulled together as your display.

    Day by day and a lot of coffee ; )
