Dear Friends,
Simplicity was the key for planning Lacey’s ice cream soiree. I’ve already admitted my many shortcomings regarding party planning. I’ll spare you the drama today. Below you’ll find a few tips for a pain-free presentation.
Create a Party Table.
Presented by Chick-fil-A
This keeps most of the focus to one area which cuts down on costs and preparation.
Use the favors as Decor.
Those favors? Ice cream bowls, starbursts, and mini pinwheels from Oriental Trading.
Cheap with a Capital C
Ice Cream shaped bubbles from Target
Frame the Invitation.
This makes an instant, attractive focal point.
We put the framed print in her room afterward.
Discount Flowers
I got 2 dozen roses for $7 at our grocery store.
I bought from the “clearance” cart that they put out with flowers that are no longer fresh.
Warehouse stores usually have good deals on flowers as well. Or your local farmer’s market!
Shop the House
The bowls, tray, bulletin board, and letters I swiped from elsewhere in our home.
The same goes for the candlestick holders and backdrop curtain on the main table.
Discount Party Supplies
I shopped for summer themed party decor the day after the 4th of July.
Everything was discounted by 50%.
The day after a holiday is a great time to buy even if you are just going with solid colors.
In Summary:
*Don’t be afraid to combine party store decorations with your own decor.
*Everything doesn’t have to match or come from the same “theme”.
*Party City and Oriental Trading are great sources for supplies.
*There are hundreds of cute activities at Oriental Trading. I had bracelet making kits on the table.
*Pull the party table together the day before. Save the day of for putting out food.
My goal for this party? An easy, stress-free event using party store decor. Score!
No Mommy guilt for not going handmade. And Lacey? She loved every minute of her first big- girl party. A win-win for everyone.

Good for you for a wonderful little party and Happy Birthday to lacey!
Thanks, Laura!!!
It all looks wonderful! Where did you find the adorable invitations?
Thank you!! Got them from Shutterfly.
Is it just me or did anybody else become *very* hungry for ice cream after checking out this post?
