Dear Friends,
Since the moment the first strip of wallpaper went up in the kitchen, I have wanted to share it with you. I did a sneaky peeky on instagram because I was so stinkin’ excited. I walk in the kitchen now and I ooze happy. Because it feels joyful. And that was what was lacking before. I loved the new paint, lighting, and china cabinet but I still wasn’t perma-smiling.
I am now. The ear-to-ear kind. But not like a creepy clown.
I just couldn’t get that cottage look that I wanted. It was elegant. It was pretty. It was still a kitchen with dark cabinets and one white china cabinet. Now, it has that New England flair that I was hoping for.
This wallpaper was super cheap. Like the cheapest wallpaper in the history of the universe. But because it didn’t cost much it didn’t go up particularly well. It was a beast. And I am extremely thankful that the professionals did it because they more than had their hands full.
So, the wallpaper saga was worth it for this room alone. Do you like it? Because I love it. Wait, I think I said that. A little rude, since this is my own house and all.
But I do. I really, really love it.
I’m linking up with Wendy at Shabby Nest, Donna at Funky Junk Interiors, and Sarah at Thrifty Decor Chick.

Very nice wallpaper ceiling , good choice . Would you consider adding a crown moulding to the white cabinets and perhaps some brackets underneath , I think it would really finish it off ?
Thanks, Chris!!! I totally have the wood for the crown in the garage. Just need to do it!! I SHOULD though! I love brackets under cabinets but there is a ledge from the beadboard that makes those tough. I will look into it though. I love your brackets on yours!
Thanks for stopping by.
I seriously love this! I wouldn’t ever think that I would but I do. The yellow stripes go perfect with the room and gives it such a cozy feeling. I love Just Beachy’s idea for the cabinets.
Thanks so much!! And Chris from Just Beachy is right about the crown! I totally need to do that.
I just love the yellow striped wall (ceiling) paper! You once again make me gasp!
So so cottage-y! And, I totally have shoes that match.
Fabulous!!!
I love this! Where did you get the wallpaper if you don’t mind me asking! There are so many options…thanks!
Thank you!! I got it at Sherwin Williams but you can also order online from Steve’s. http://www.stevesblindsandwallpaper.com/Wallpaper/ProductDetailPricing.aspx?pn=SS28437&ctg=1797
The name of the book is Simply Stripes. Hope that helps! And Sherwin Williams is a great source for looking at wallpaper.
Gorgeous! Love it.
This is fantastic! my mother always says that yellow is a color every kitchen should have. So nice to wake up too. Don’t you just want to lie on the floor and stare at the ceiling?
I actually lay on the couch in the family room and instead of looking at the TV at night with hubby I am looking over at the kitchen ceiling!!
Not a look or colour I would normally look at myself, but in your kitchen it looks amazing!
I love it! very cute. it would make me smile every morning! and thank you for the “real” life booster. sometimes i look at these blogs and think “who lives like this”. i like to see beautiful spaces that people actually live in. then i don’t get so depressed.
Perfectly cottage. The wallpaper ceiling is so pretty and unique. Love your space.
The whole kitchen looks wonderful! Where did you get the great counter stools?
The high-back stools are from Ballard Designs. They aren’t cheap which is why I could only get two! They offer coupons a lot so I would never buy without 15% off.
The low stools are from Overstock. I actually LOVE those too!
Your kitchen is gorgeous!!! I can see why you’re smiling from ear to ear! Hopped over from The Shabby Nest! Blessings ~ Judy
Your kitchen is lovely!
love it and i love that sign don’t forget dessert did you buy it or make it? ang
I was so glad I found you. My kitchen as dark cabinets and have been wanting to do a cottage look. I swear I could not find 1 cottage kitchen that didn’t have white kitchens. You mean back in the day all cabinets were painted white. So you are my inspiration that I can have a cottage kitchen WITH dark cabinets. I thank you, my spirit thanks you. Your kitchen would definitely make me smile. Since you inspired me, I wonder if you would inspire a few other, would you consider posting this with Sunday’s Best party Sunday night. I sure hope so, cause I can’t believe you and me are the only 2 women who want cottage kitchens with dark cabinets. I so thank you!
Oh, It looks so charming, Erin! I think hanging wallpaper from the ceiling would be quite tricky–thank goodness for the professionals. Your kitchen now looks so playful and light. Wonderful choice! (And I’m loving your drapes, too.)
