Displaying Mommy Treasures {Consolidating}

Dear Friends,
  If you are like me, sometimes when browsing design blogs & magazines you think, “where is all their stuff?”  We see the latest Joss & Main accessory but not the made-at-school flower pot.  You Moms know what I’m talking about.  All those little things presented by a proud little person on holidays and special occasions.

I want to be the kind of Mom who proudly displays little treasures.  But I don’t like clutter.  And that stuff adds up fast.  After last school year I felt like I was on a speeding train to crazy Granny’s Trinket Trove.

The solution for me?  Storing all the special things together in my very own Mommy treasure cabinet.  Formerly used to display dishes.

Right now I have random pottery mixed in but I know that some day this cabinet will be filled to the brim.  And that is okay.  Because it is all on one place.  On full display for everyone but not taking over the house.

Do you have a special spot for those sometimes- unique items that were made with love?  Do tell.

P.S.  I have had that cabinet for years.  It was from Crate & Barrel’s Best Buys catalog.

  1. I love your curtains!

  2. By the way my daughter is 22 and I still have Mommy treasures displayed in my house. They grow up way too fast!

  3. Oh, I wish I’d had one of those back when my kids were little! I usually had a shelf on our family room bookcase that housed their projects… worked okay, but I love your cabinet.

  6. I am currently working on an area for this near our entry/drop zone. I’ve painted up two ornate frames in funky colors, one will be hung “hot dog” and one “hamburger” for the 2D artwork, and am going to hang a molding shelf with the frames for the 3D creations; all of this will be changed out regularly. As for permanent homes for these things, I haven’t figured it out yet.

    • Oh, wow, that sounds awesome Lindsey!! You have all the artwork covered. I hesitate to say anything is “permanent” around here. Seems like something is always changing, but I do love my little cabinet for now and hope to keep it that way for a long time coming. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I love your cabinet/display idea! My children are now grown, but I will remember this idea when the works of art start showing up from my grandchildren.
