Sometimes the best design comes down to a happy accident. Or it did in this case, anyway. I ordered an ottoman from Joss & Main about six months ago for the living room. At the time I didn’t have a solid vision for the study but I loved the ottoman enough to take a chance on it.
Fast forward a few months. With the new “coat closet” I just didn’t have the room for the ottoman. It didn’t make sense in the design and it just wasn’t doing it for me.
The ottoman sat in the hall for a few days while I contemplated. And then the lightbulb went on.
This is one of those posts where I should have a “before” picture. Where that ottoman is, I had a blue plastic kiddie stool covered in stickers. Not only is the ottoman nicer looking, it also is a much better hand-washing solution. Because the bowl sink is so tall, my youngest couldn’t even reach with the stool. Now he can on his knees. It is safe and easy and practical. And pretty!
The best part? It is a storage ottoman so inside it is holding toilet paper, wipes, and extra soap.
I’ve got this room on the brain now. That is the original color from when we bought the house, which I planned on doing charcoal stripes with; however, I don’t want to be the crazy stripe house after doing the kitchen ceiling. Maybe a navy blue or really brilliant green overall paint color? The powder room gives the opportunity do something a little different. The wheels are turning…
