Kitchen Rug + A Soap Display

Dear Friends,
I haven’t made any home decor purchases since Christmas but the streak is broken.  I ordered a little rug for the kitchen on Joss & Main.  I have a weakness for pears and I couldn’t say no when I saw the $20-something price tag.

I have been looking for an attractive rug for that spot to cushion my feet while doing dishes.  Oh, and it helps with all of the splashing from the sink as well.

Hello, orthopedic pleasure.

As you can see, we have not replaced the faucet yet.  It seems stinky to spend money on something less pretty.  Of course, the lack of function may do me in soon.   It is fine as long as we don’t use the sprayer, but with a sink that size you have to use a pitcher to wash things down.

When taking pictures of the sink a few weeks ago for the faucet-whining post, I noticed that my soap was mismatched & ugly.   I’m always talking about decorating details but sometimes you overlook them in the everyday.  And in this case, my new matching sink products look a thousand times better with very little effort required.  I dug that silver tray out of the dining room.  Yes, I know it could use polishing but I’m partial to the patina of the worn silver.  I also like that I can keep the counter spray within reach and lock up the cabinet under the sink.

Now, for those dishes.  These pictures were taken with a sink full.  Thankfully, the farmhouse tub does a good job of hiding them!

  1. love the rug so cute .

  2. The rug is super cute. Also, I was at Ikea the other day and they had a few faucets that look similiar to yours and I saw another one at the Home Depot as well. (In case you were hoping to replace yours with something similiar!)

    • Thanks, Kathryn! I’ve been looking but I’m trying to go with a Kohler or Delta because that is what my plumber suggested. I’ll check out Ikea & Home Depot though – thanks for the tip!

  3. Funny I hardly EvEr see pears in home decor…unless it’s the still life painting. I LOVE the rug! And now am in search of pears because it’s like the Hidden Pictures for DIY. I wonder if I can locate tangerines. I LOVE the way they look too. OR green apples!!!?

Your sink is wonderful and I, too, HAVE to match my cleaning supplies to the room! It’s in our constant decorating DNA…ain’t no way around it!

    • Once I went to a fellow mom’s house and she had a pear on her fireplace. I knew we’d be friends and I was right! The rug is kind of like a Magic Eye. Find the pear! Or whatever fruit you prefer.

I was late to the game on the cleaning supplies matching but I’m glad to have come around. 🙂

  4. I love your sink so much that it makes me hate you….in the most loving way ever! 😉

  5. Please pray for Brittany Vollmers . She lost her parents and siblings in a car crash. She was away at college.

  6. It’s enormous that you are getting ideas from this piece of writing as well as from our argument made here.
