Screened Porch Update + Plans

Dear Friends,

We are embarking on our second summer in this house and I want to enjoy our screened porch.  Last year we didn’t have much furniture and it was a mess of cast-offs and toys.  We finally got our settee in August after waiting almost nine months for it.  The store we bought it from changed ownership and getting retribution on our order was a tangled mess.

It is starting to come together.  The foundation is in place now and I’m excited to build on it.

We moved the Dash & Albert outdoor rug to the screened porch.   It needs a good cleaning! The table and chairs were a wedding present circa 2002.   The nesting tables were from World Market several years ago.  The bird house is an oldie that I can’t seem to part with.

I want to get a few outdoor pillows to add to the settee.  I’m thinking coral or orange maybe? Something bright and fun.

I’ve got a few ideas for this space.  I have an old coffee table that I’d like to paint and poly.  I’d also like a couple of chairs for extra seating.  I’m not looking to spend much money so I’m on the look-out for a bargain.

Before I daydream about any more screened porch plans, I’ve got to clean it.  The cushions need cleaning in addition to the rug.  Also, everything has a heavy coating of pollen.

Before the trees coated our world in yellow, we had dinner out there a handful of times.  I think we are going to get a lot of use out of it these next several months.

Are you a porch or deck person?  I love having the enclosed space but I miss the ease of cleaning a deck.

  1. Porch! Definitely porch! Cleaning off all the pollen IS a huge pain, but I so love a screened porch, especially for eating. For just sitting and relaxing, our front porch is my favorite place in the world. I think I’m just a sucker for any kind of covered porch. Yours is going to look smashing!

    • I’ve always loved your porches, Richella! Yours are inspiration for making mine feel more like an cozy room!! Thanks for your vote of confidence. :)

  2. I so wish we had a screened-in porch! I would sit on it all the time. For now we have to put up with the bugs. :)
